The Favor of God Wipes Away Shame and Makes You Great| Part II

The blessings of God maketh rich and addeth no sorrow. In this fallen world, God has promised to hug us when life throws those nasty unforgiving curve balls at us.

Just like most of the Biblical characters, we have all gone through some perturbing rough patches in life. A friend of mine once confessed how she would wash her hair several times, scrubbing it brutally like you would a bathroom floor because she could not comprehend the calamity she was facing at the time. Her comfort was only found in God.

Many of us have felt like breaking that tooth brush with our bare hands, pulling out hair or excavating that wisdom tooth with your tongue. This often happens when you fall into a seemingly bottomless pit of painful events.

Nevertheless, one thing is common for believers facing these insurmountable troubles- it is always easier with God. The moments last for a short time before God wraps his arms around us- fulfilling his promises when the time is right.

“For those who find me find life and receive favor from the Lord.” Proverbs 8:35

“For You, O Lord, will bless the righteous with favor. You will surround him as with a shield.” Psalms 5:12

4 people who experienced God’s favor in the most unusual circumstances

  1. The cool fire: Shadrach, Meshack and Abednego were literary put in the fire to roast. Instead of turning to ashes, a fourth man joined them. They enjoyed painless, combustible refining and favor thereafter.
  2. Warriors play and combat. David, the handsome, wise musician and warrior encountered trouble that leached on him like a relentless roach but was greatly recompensed. He was despised by his brothers, pursued by King Saul who was determined to kill him and even betrayed by his son. Even though he spent most of his adult life fleeing, pretending to be a mad man or looking for shelter in the enemy’s camps, David found God’s favor. He went on to become a mighty king, musician and a man after God’s heart.
