Injustice is very painful. Injustice by people in authority is extremely excruciating. Not so long ago, I was denied justice by the powers that be albeit I had all the necessary documents to prove recompense. I had taken the matter to the courtrooms of heaven even as the worldly structures failed us.

We finally got justice through constant knocking on the same biased doors but in a surprisingly supernatural and Godly intervention. A story for another day.

Justice in the Bible is clear on God’s just and caring nature and his call for his people to seek justice for the most vulnerable to injustice. https://thelovetablet.com/2022/11/01/7-ways-to-detect-that-wolf-in-sheeps-clothing/

Human Rights Facets According To The Bible

  1. The God of Justice: God not only punishes iniquity, but renews the victims of injustice. His justice is both retributive and reparative.
  2. Biblical justice is characterized by various facets:
    • Impartiality: Biblical justice requires equality for others. Jesus shocked people by treating all classes of people with equal love and respect- Samaritans, Jews, lepers and many more.
    • Defense: Believers and governments are to treat all equally, and not show partiality to anybody, to advocate for provision of basic needs and offer empowerment in helping others gain self-sufficiency.
    • Benevolence: Robbery is always an injustice. We all have moral obligations to both God and others in using our resources unselfishly and to bless others according to our abilities.
    • Commitment: Families, governments, civil societies, communities and corporate institutions must collectively and personally be responsible in ensuring fairness for all.
  3. Jesus comes to bring justice: The glory of Christ as the judge of all nations proves God’s first covenant for us- God will redress every wrong.
    • Retributive and distributive justice is everyone’s responsibility through our love and persistence.
    • The greatest commandment is love.
    • Faith is a sure guarantee to justice. The parable is told of a widowed woman who pleaded with an unjust judge to grant her justice in her case over and over again but he refused her. She kept going back to him and finally, he relented just to get her off his order of the day.
  4. The church must call the society to more just social relationships. It must stand for the truth.
  5. Transformation of power- which has been used to exploit and abuse. Believers must not use power in a way that exploits others. https://thelovetablet.com/2022/10/25/enjoying-life-golding-life-like-the-golden-hymns/
